What Is A Key Blank?

A key blank is a key that has not yet been cut to a specific biting. The keys are cut by using a cutting machine which works by using the original key as a reference and then tracing one tooth of the key whilst another part of the machine simultaneously grinds the replica teeth into the key blank.

We stock a wide range of Key Blanks for trade account customers. Using our team of specialists and our own production factory, we can design and produce any Union Key on the market. Selling in units of 10, 50 and 100 we can supply any key blank in bulk for your construction projects with up to a 2 hour turnaround time before we ship worldwide with free delivery on orders of over 50 keys. (Shipping unavailable on Saturdays and Sundays)

Lever Locks Explained

A Lever Lock is the most common type of lock which operates by inserting a large key that makes contact with the internal tumbler and turns it to a position that allows the lock bolt to slide past. This then allows you to rotate the key and unlock the door. Lever Locks are available in three and five lever varieties and the more levers a lock has, the more different possible key shapes there are, therefore making the lock more secure. These locks are often used on exterior doors such as garages and entrance doors.

Cylinder Locks Explained

A Cylinder Lock is a commonly used lock that is primarily designed to be used on internal doors. These locks operate by having a row of internal pins of different lengths which then lines up with the correct cylinder key, allowing the door to open. The more internal pins a cylinder lock has, the more secure the lock is.
